Betty Harsy

Betty Harsy, 79, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:08 A.M., Saturday, January 3, 2004 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Betty was a homemaker and had been a bus driver for the Walker School. She was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin.
She was born February 16, 1924 at Du Quoin, IL the daughter of James E. and Mary (Newbury) Stowers.
She married Charles G. "Dutch" Harsy on September 16, 1944 at the St. John's United Church of Christ at Du Quoin and he survives.
She is survived by her husband Charles G. "Dutch" Harsy of Du Quoin, son- Denny Harsy and wife Peggy of Du Quoin, brother- Edward "Jiggs" Stowers of Dallas, TX, four grandchildren- Julie Bingemann and husband Chris of Jacksonville, FL, Steven Harsy and wife Jennifer of Du Quoin, Michael Harsy and wife Jolene of DeSoto, Joanie Lackey and husband Tommy of Atlanta, GA; also seven great grandchildren survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son- Richard Alan Harsy, four sisters and five brothers.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Paul Schultz officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
